A big round of applause, ladies and gentleman, for the one and only Michael Corner who, in his bid to be a knight in shining armour yesterday, managed to break his toe, smash a dozen eggs, and scatter half a dozen Ministry files across the town square.

Nice work, Mick. I'd offer to buy you a drink, but it sounds like it could be dangerous.

Moving house is more stressful than I remember. It's interesting, though, to see what I have accumulated since I first moved to Helga's Hill.

I started packing my records earlier, but I seem to have spent the last hour reorganising my collection after I realised that I had let it slip out of alphabetical order over the last few months.

I regret that there was such a commotion at today's groundbreaking. Perhaps I was naïve to hope that people would actually look at the new plans for the development before decrying it.

Tonight I shall drink a very large glass of wine.

Are you free for dinner tonight at mine? Otherwise I'm going to have to eat all this food by myself.

Jan. 10th, 2014

It has been a long week and today has felt like the longest day of them all. Tonight, though, I get to enjoy dinner with the most amazing witch I know.

For the benefit of those ghouls I heard gossiping this morning, I do indeed have a will. It seemed necessary.

With the obvious exception of Mandy, this week has been a trial of who is more tedious, lawyers or architects. At least plans are moving forward. Xavier's legacy may live on after all. Just in less gauche a fashion.

While I don't wish to comment on Gavin Orpington specifically, I do hope that the weekend's revelation allows the town to move on. I have come to greatly appreciate this community during my time here and I think it has a bright future ahead of it.

[Private to Mandy]
I enjoyed last night.

A heavy weight has been lifted from my shoulders, the spectre of my biological father no longer clinging to my every move. Finally, I can breathe again and the air is clean and sweet. Now, the murderer has been arrested, I feel more secure, as though I can do anything with Mandy at my side.

Oct. 27th, 2013

Last night was certainly interesting. I don't believe that I am a convert to TCTF, but the production values seem very high and the people involve are all very passionate about what they're doing.

Thank you for accompanying me last night. You looked absolutely stunning and I felt very lucky to have you on my arm.

Oct. 21st, 2013

It appears that I've been sent an invitation to the premiere of The Curl and the Flame. Not quite what I expected to see in the post when I arrived at the office this morning.

Will you go with me?

Oct. 17th, 2013

Some things need to be seen to be believed.

Mick getting slapped just for ordering a coffee is one of them, especially when the person doing the slapping is one of the most mild-mannered people I know.

[Private to Mandy]

What do you know about pie, specifically the making of?

Sep. 9th, 2013

After Friday's incident, I am indeed alive. It seems that I owe Mandy for my good health. If I hadn't been found as soon as I was, not doubt they would have kept me in hospital for observation for another night. I never imagined that office work could be quite so dangerous.

Sep. 5th, 2013

The Ministry finally returned the paperwork from the office a couple of days ago. I don't remember there being so much before it was taken. Is it possible for paperwork to multiply? I'm almost wondering if it's worth hiring an assistant, even temporarily.

Aug. 29th, 2013

I stay in London for a couple of nights for meetings and come home to a town that seems rather crazier than when I left it.

I'm starting to think I'd rather go back to the lawyers.

Jul. 22nd, 2013

• Clean windows
• Reply to letters
Send an owl to Lavender
• Buy milk

This week hasn't quite started out the way I would wish but things, as they say, can only get better. Though, as someone who didn't even like sitting too close to the hearth in the common room, I have to hope there won't be any more fires in town.

Jul. 3rd, 2013

To clarify, yes, I went to the Ministry for questioning yesterday. No, I wasn't arrested, as was suggested to be when I went to Golden Apples this morning.

Lavender, I do apologise for the way that Sunday ended. I had no idea that anything so dramatic would happen. You were a wonderful dancer and I hope it didn't spoil your night.

Jun. 23rd, 2013

To buy:

• new Lunar Philosophy LP
• coffee
• socks
• green ink

The elephant in the room has been slowly but surely wrapping its trunk around my neck and squeezing. Barely a week goes by without another half dozen souls being claimed as one of Orpington's. As much as I have resisted, I need it confirmed once and for all. It might even clear up this messy business with the will.

Yet I don't know what will happen if the results are negative. It's always been such a certainty to all of us and she's never mentioned anyone else. I know the pressures of war can lead to rash decisions, but I don't think there was another man.

Jun. 14th, 2013

If I order from the Jewel, how likely am I to receive the right food?

Pizza also appeals, but then the question becomes Angelo's or Wyn's?

And all the while I get hungrier.
